Poem: Greed

In late july, I found a magnet poetry book and decided to try my hand at it. After a while of picking out words that spoke to me, piling them on the magnetic cover, and sorting through them all, I created this. It feels oddly timeless? Right for the time, yet unfortunately, this could apply to a myriad of eras.

man consumes people
dry crack slice skin use run
why are we his meal
immense want through building
shower bombs over all sound
yet you are love

Now, I want to make it clear: I don't subscribe to the idea of mankind being inherintly evil & a disease of the earth.
In truth, I want "Man" to read as "The Man" as in the big guys. The politicians, the billionaires, etc. I wanted to express frustration in the greed The Man shows, mowing down human lives like fodder in favor of profit. The Man is a cannibal and tyrant.

Yet, through it all, through the screams of those eaten, you are love. We are love. The kindness through the cruelty. We fight with love and empathy. In truth, I wanted a sliver of hope in this bleak poem.

I'm not really much of a poet, especially with limited vocabulary. But I figured it would be nice to try it anyway. Thanks for reading.
